About Gears in Heaven Inc:
Gears in Heaven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created from loss, built on compassion, and powered by the vehicle community. Our mission is to bring comfort, connection, and support to families of motorsport enthusiasts who have been killed or seriously injured in vehicle accidents.
To us, a motorsport enthusiast is more than someone who owns a car, truck, motorcycle, or custom build. It is someone whose passion is part of who they are. It is the early mornings, the late nights in the garage, the shows, the meets, the road trips, the friendships, the builds, and the memories made along the way. That passion creates a family, and when tragedy happens, family shows up.
Gears in Heaven was founded in memory of Brandon Forlastro, the son of our founders, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on his 22nd birthday. Brandon’s love for the vehicle community began with his first car, a 2002 Bugeye WRX wagon, and continued with two more WRXs. Wicked Big Meet was his favorite event, and attending with his father became a tradition they treasured.
That loss became the beginning of something much bigger. Today, Gears in Heaven exists to help families feel seen, supported, and less alone when life changes in an instant. Through emotional support, peer connection, practical assistance, memorial support, and community outreach, we stand beside families during some of their hardest moments.
For those attending Wicked Big Meet, our mission connects deeply with the heart of this event. This community understands that vehicles are not just machines. They are stories, memories, friendships, passion, and purpose. The same community that celebrates builds, creativity, dedication, and love for the road can also become a powerful source of hope and support when one of our own is hurting.
