Gears in Heaven, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is committed to offering comfort and support to the families of motorsport enthusiasts who have been killed or seriously injured in a vehicle accident. A "motorsport enthusiast", from our perspective, is someone whose passion for vehicles is a defining element of their personality. This profound fervor for custom vehicles shapes our community and fuels our support efforts.
Our Story: Born from Personal Loss
Our journey began with a tragic event. Brandon Forlastro, the son of our founders, was tragically killed on his 22nd birthday in a motorcycle accident. He was on his way to a birthday breakfast with friends, a beloved routine before their regular visit to the local car show. Tragically, an impatient and distracted pickup truck driver turned left over double yellow lines, directly in front of Brandon's motorcycle, causing the fatal accident. This heartbreaking incident birthed the establishment of Gears in Heaven, serving as a tribute to Brandon's memory and a commitment to supporting others in similar situations.
What We Do: A Spectrum of Support
We offer a range of services to affected families, including emotional support, practical help, peer meetings, and memorial support. Our dedicated volunteers are driven by empathy and understanding, assisting families through their most challenging times.
